In this page you can read about

DTU Dive:

We are a small club that primarily dives around Copenhagen and north-eastern Zealand. We focus on the friendly atmosphere around diving and making diving accessible for everyone. The club is compromised of members with different certifications and of different experience levels and everyone with a recognized diving certificate is welcome. Our members are glad to help new members getting started diving again after a long break, getting started diving outside of vacations and give advice about further training and equipment.

As it is primarily the wind and weather that decides where and when diving is possible, most of our dives are planned with short notice using our members only facebook page.  Most dives vary from beach dives mostly from the coast towards Øresund to simple wreck and quarry dives.

Active season:

In the club we usually only do diving in seasons where the water temperature are 12-14°C or above, we only do wetsuits and if you wish to do dry suit diving, you will need to have your own suit. The water temperature will usually lie in this limit from around late April to somewhere in October.

Activity within the season:

In the active season many of the dives are arranged more or less spontaneous, meaning some will be arranged a week before and sometimes a day before, this is because weather determines if diving is possible.

We will try to make bigger dive trips with more people and food build into the structure, the trips will usually be arranged with a month of caution.

The club structure in the active season is such that it encourages the members to be an active part of the activities themselves, this means that we strongly encourage you to also make a Facebook post about that you want to dive, and let other people respond they want to dive with you.

How you transport gear is a matter you will have to solve dive to dive, but we encourage you to team up with a buddy who have a car for transport of the equipment otherwise, borrow a car from family or rent a vehicle for transport. Transport is usually one of the big challenges within the club, since not many people have a car this can usually be a limiting factor. We recommend getting a vehicle in some way for the day, and then share between the divers and internally split the gas price.

The club cannot guarantee dives within the season, the setup is so it the members responsibility to hold the club active with dives.

Off Season:

In the off season we have travel trips to destinations such as Egypt, however we are currently working on getting other off season activities established.

Gear and rental:

In the clubhouse we have two types of equipment. We have equipment that can always be borrowed for free and we have equipment that you can rent for cheap money when going for a dive.

Your equipment and others equipment:

You are always welcome to have your equipment hanging in the clubhouse (in your own responsibility).  We currently have a system where the gear hanging with names on them are personal equipment in which you are not allowed to use, so if you want to have something hanging you do not want to share, please hang markings on it, so everybody can see it is personal equipment.

Borrow equipment:

In the clubhouse we also have equipment which are meant  for free usage this includes:

  • Free Air and bottle refill
  • Bottles 12 and 15 L which can be borrowed
  • Gloves
  • Wet suit
  • Hood
  • Shoes
  • Fins
  • Lead and Weightbelt
  • Mask

Please mind that the club is a student club, so the equipment are old and there is not necessarily all sizes available, however most of the time it is usually possible to find a fit, since the wetsuits are made from neoprene.

Rentable equipment:

The rentable equipment in the club is 2 pieces

  • Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
    • Rent price is
      • 30 kr for members per dive
      • 60 kr for non-member per dive
    • We currently have 2 available in the clubhouse

    • Rent price is
      • 30 kr for members per dive
      • 60 kr for non-member per dive

Note: You cannot rent the equipment as a non-member if you are not diving with an active member of DTU Dive.

Dive Trip:

As a successor of DTU Dives Dive trip to Marsa Shagra in 2023, the club will try to arrange dive trips which goes to location outside Denmark, as an example the Marsa Shagra dive trip was held in Egypt where the divers was at a dive camp in Egypt. Please do see the post below.

The club will try to arrange the trips with helps for the attendants, to make nice trips which are different from the  other nice trips we do in danish waters.

Membership:

In order to join the club you need to have a diving certificate. DTU Dive are not able to supply a certificate, since we do not have any active instructors associated with us, instead we recommend to check out any dive center. The club is not responsible for any activities you perform, diving is on your own responsibility, and you should be cautious when diving and should have your own ensurance.

How to Join:

In order to join DTU Dive you will have to pay 400DKK for each year you want to be a member.

Note: We cannot guarantee activity within the club, since many of the members in the club are students with different schedules which are busy at times, therefore dead periods will be present, also within the more active periods.

In order to join the club you can join with the link https://dtudive.klub-modul.dk/cms/ProfileMaintainEnrollment.aspx (The link says you should write a board member, but you do not need to do that, if you have read this page and comply with it.)
